Coolormelody is a free, node-based patch editor that generates melody ideas from images. Feed it a picture, and it reads brightness, hue and saturation to turn color into notes — a spark for your next track, not a finished song.

Built for play and exploration rather than polished output: drop in an image, blend it with another, run it through a procedural texture or a mapping transform, and watch the result turn into a melody you can reshape further with rhythmic gates and math transforms (transpose, invert, retrograde, velocity, combine).

Features:

• Visual node patch: chain generators, processors, and outputs however you like
• Image generators: import your own photos/artwork, or generate procedural textures (checker, noise, gradient, waves, spiral)
• Image processing: crossfade/blend modes, offset/rotate/repeat mapping
• Melody generation from color: several modes (simple melody, arpeggio, melodic walk, rhythmic bounces), multiple scales, adjustable octave range, tempo, humanize, transpose, optional bass line
• Rhythm shaping: gate module with manual/random/euclidean-style patterns
• Melody math: transpose, invert, retrograde, velocity scaling, combine two melody sources
• Load your own SoundFont (.sf2) instruments, or use the built-in default piano
• Live playback in-browser/app, with an editable piano roll (drag to transpose, double-click to delete a note)
• Export to standard MIDI (.mid), export any image output as PNG, save/load/export/import full patches as presets
• Undo/redo, node grouping, copy/paste/duplicate — a real editing workflow, not a toy

The goal isn't a finished, polished piece of music — it's to surface unexpected starting points: a phrase, a motif, a rhythm you can pull into your DAW or notation software and develop into something complete.
